Regarding new artists creating a BUZZ at Vox. Leona Lewis failed to do that. A recent post offering her album for free got ZERO responses but she's hit the No1 spot in the UK and US, what are your thoughts on that.
Well with all the hype and exposure Leona has had, if her album is of no interest to anyone then surely it is going to be seriously difficult for new artists to gain interest or create a Buzz. Agreed? I think the new artists should take heart from this as I am sure many find it frustratingly difficult to get any kind of feedback or gain any momentum via vox.
Depends on your music and what you do on here and how you use the blog. Plus, I don't see why people would come to a blogging platform to get an album for free when there's Limewire and the such available. People aren't really on here for that.
I don't see how people's lack of interest in a Leona album reflects their interest in the other activites/purpose of vox. Plus if you're trying to create a buzz on Vox alone then you need to re-think your strategy somewhat. You sound familiar, would this happen to be Funkcartel by any chance? :-)
This is not about me. I am not trying to create a buzz anywhere. This is about the general scheme of things regarding new artists at vox and this has nothing to do with the funkcartel. I am merely an individual. The lack of interest in a number one selling album relates directly to people's lack of interest in any and all albums or tracks loaded to vox. I agree that vox is not the place to solely exist for artists trying to gain exposure, it is just one of many. Vox is an extremely good platform that has the potential to become one of the best social networks available, so vox should be on the list of places that artists use.
You mention that people are not on here to discover Leona. Well, nor are they on here to discover This Morning's Call or any other new artists but that's not the point. In the midst of all the posts at vox, if an artist like leona can be overlooked so easily, surely artists should reflect on that and not get so dejected because they are also being missed out. That's the crux. A point is not an aim or an intention. Vox is a great place to discuss issues and it's a great place to discover and learn about the world considering the mutli-national membership that exists here. I have been discussing this with many artists privately and publicly and the common thread is that many are feeling -ve about the platform for their objective. It is important to mention though that vox is vox and it is not simply an A&R tool for RCA and Columbia. I sincerely feel that some have that misconception when they sign up for Vox and that's something that they should also appreciate.I was after a label's opinion in this case because unless one asks, one never knows.
Funkcartel – you’re not alone. I hate "buzz" too, but if you adjust your truss rod and get someone to set-up your tune-o-matic bridge for you, it can be almost gotten rid of completely – although it will always cause a bit of a problem on your bottom ‘E’ around the 12th fret.

Well, members of the funkcartel asked indieBoy to delete ALL comments back in December 2007 but he refused to do so despite repeated requests. It would be great if he did delete them all. IndieBoy is like all the A&R at vox, he is keen to have his arse kissed and anyone who does not do so is apparently a 'mentalist'. I am not sure if the diction he uses actual has any credible meaning other than in slang terminology banded about by children but I get the idea.
