Getting things moving.....

[this is good]
Hi IB
Looking at your radio idea thats also sounds great, the BBC are keen to push their BBC INTRODUCING have a look @ http://www.bbc.co.uk/coventry/content/articles/2007/06/27/bbc_introducing_feature.shtml
This is happening all over the country. Lots of local bands getting good airplay. Maybe labels can contact the stations direct and ask them who's got a buzz going on. I think labels getting closer to local radio is great as if a band is good enough to get airplay then a label should take a look also. Our local BBC CWR is very supportive of new bands check ;

Thanks very much, will take a look.
Hey everyone... For all you millions of voxers planning to come to my gig tonight, I'm on 3rd.. So around 9.30... hopefully see some of you down there..

Hey IB,

Sorry I missed the past couple of posts... -I was out of town for a couple days, and just got back last night.

With your media player, I still want to suggest the graphic equalizer for those of us who are in to that, and for those who don't have posh speakers on their PC's.

I don't really celebrate Halloween. -It just isn't my thing, so no fancy dress going on here. However, I'm sure to be doing some sort of scary movie marathon to mark the night. I've settled on two movies, but I'm trying to decide on one or two more. -I'm sure I'll blog about it in a little while.

Have a good Halloween, but easy on the sweets, eh? ;-)

howdy fella. just been checkin out susie wilkins amazing stuff! if you get a moment check out a few of my demos. thanks fella. (sorry if im not using this site right, i only joined yesterday and just getting used to it:)

Sometimes feel like I should hit the gym - i'm not fat i've just always wanted my guns to get a little bit bigger! Tryin to fit the gym around being a musician is near enough impossible though to be honest. The guns will have to wait! Maybe i'll just get a heavier gee-tar. ha!

Progressing the media player! That's what i'm talking about. I prefer vox to other sites due to the emphasis on blogging, but I'm always reluctant to send people that are interested in my music to vox, simply because of the lack of media player tools etc. Here are my thoughts, please feel free to comment...

A) I think it would be good if the player was positioned at the top of the page so people can access it quickly & efficiently; at the end of the day, I just wana hear people's music before anything else.

B) How about a tally to see what's getting played and how often? I'm always eager to check out acts that create a buzz and I think this is a good way of gauging such - Bit myspace-esque I know but I like it. A 'ratings' system was mentioned before. I really like the idea of this; 'have the player stop after 15 tracks and tell you to rate the next track playing to continue'. Maybe even have the person make a comment on it instead of just a mere rating.

C) I'd like the option to have a profile song of my choice playing when someone logs onto my page - Some people may disagree...

D) Buy now link - Yes yes yes - is itunes viable?

E) Simple volume control / mute function?

F) Some indication of a musical genre? I'm usually pretty open minded, but no offense to anyone, but i've never been a great fan of Rap music, and i'd hate to waste my time clicking on things I'll never genuinely appreciate.

Let me know what you all think...

Cheers, Ashmeister x

All excellent stuff. I've copied your message over to my contacts at Vox following on from a conversation I had with them last night.

Hope all is good with you.

What is beig discussed here has already been done. They are many media players around on the web, just google 'media players' there are plenty to choose from with varying range and control. If you cant find one you like - just make one in Macromedia Flash, it really is simple.

Whilst everyone is discussing it here, it has already been done. I have a media player on my page, it plays a list i have chosen, in a pop up window and it is portable. I have 24hr Radio Streaming through another Link on the same page.

Excellent, send me a link as I'm still looking for a good one. I'm looking for a URL driven playlist that allows for single user admin and easily embeddable on other platforms in flash (no java).
Yes, nasty code that java stuff, design is one thing, development and programming another - i have looked at lots of media players recently, i will post up a few links so that u can have a look at them, i'll cherry pick for you. Maybe you can discuss their merits with clever people at RCA and Vox who can maybe work the best of them into one or talk to the people who made them to have them adapted, there are a few out there that will do that on request who would probably love to handle something for Vox/RCA. I'm not into programming, i just like making things look pretty : )

Have you not discussed this kind of thing with Last.FM - I know u did the NFAB thing with them. I am using their tools for making radio stations and playlists on my websites and blogs. The only thing I have yet to see is the Graphic Equaliser in a Media Player. The only place I have seen with that enablement is iTunes really.

I will post aformentioned links soon.
http://www.quinnware.com/tour.php?page=screens

seek and you shall find - that one has a graphic eq with it: more later
http://www.quinnware.com/ - thats their main page: note above url ends at screens, i saw it display with seek....etc all in one line, but the url ends with =screens
Before i provide more links re: Media Players - id like to know why the aversion of Javascript is being made, it will cut out a lot of possibilities for you i should think. Are you adversed to Action Script 2 or 3 as well?

Right, nor responses here so I am bailing out on this one. as a leaving note: cant those clever designers in the label team just make one? I seem to remember you saying that we will not find a better team than a label has so.......adios hombre
