Pinestripe in Camden
Hello,
Sorry for the quiet spell, been really busy as usual.
I'm getting out to see gigs now I've got a lot of the online stuff in place.
Went to see Pinstripe the other day at the Roundhouse's Freedom Studio.
As usual, I didn't leave my office until the very very last minute. Camden is a fair old journey from Putney but I managed to get there a bit early which was lucky. Saw the band on before Pinstripe, didn't catch their name but they seemed pretty good.
Venue was not what I'm used to. Was increadably clean, and civilised. Lots of nice lighting and exposed brickwork, bit like seeing a gig in a drama studio. I think I've got to used to places with sticky carpets (I miss the Kings Head in Fulham :-(, it's the Zulu Bar now) and warm Fosters in plastic cups.
Gig was good. The music was technically flawless, I imagine they spend a whole lot of time in rehearsal. On stage they were really tight and did gel nicely. I've seen a lot of bands that don't look like a unit, just seemingly a random group of people who happen to know how to play the same songs.
There's a lot there and 'All I Say' is a really good song. I would keep an eye out to see how these chaps develop because I think the best is yet to come.
I filmed a couple of the songs, I'll edit it tonight and see if I can get it up on here.
I couldn't stay for the whole gig unfortunately as I had several things to do around north London that evening. On the way back I ran into my mate who runs Tommy Flynn's on the high street which was nice. For those of you who go to Koko it's the pub opposite. Seems he's got a few good night's running now. I noticed that Lightningtype had a gig there recently. Couldn't make it but will try in future.
In the meantime, take a look at their blog and have a listen to the tracks. They originally got a mention on the Columbia blog if you're getting feelings of de ja vu. :-)
Hope all is well with you out there. Let me know what's happening with you and be sure to post gig details on your blog.

Any info on how to go about getting a slot at Tommy Flynn's? I am a bit out of the loop coming from Oxford; can't find any contact details on the net. I fancy doing something acoustic there to spread the word in the big smoke...
As far as I know people seem to drop in and ask about, though I think he's started using outside promoters. I'm seeing him on Friday so will ask.

Hi,
Hows things? Hope you're well! We recently did a live video recording for Six TV in Oxford. We've blogged it on our Vox page, it's one of our newer songs 'Matthew We'll Make a Man of You Yet', come and give it a watch if you get the chance!
Cheers!
