Why didn't this post
I posted this on Wednesday and it hasn't appeared....
---------------------------------------------
Sorry for the all quiet, but I've been sick. Not in the cool, down with the kids style expression meaning erm... good or something.
I was a pale green colour yesterday which was a nasty change from my usual pale translucent blue that most Londonites have.
I'm mostly better today but had to have the morning off. I would have streched it to the full day but it's my next meeting with LastFM today, so I've proper smartened myself up and scrubbed up too. I've even had a shave which is very unlike me. A combination of sudafed and Beechams (not recommended as it exceeds maximum does of things) has left me on top of the world and everything looks kinda sparkly. That caffine/codine mix really does it for me I think. I don't drink coffee or anything so when I do have caffine it might as well be amphetamine. I might go clubbing after this meeting.
Anyhoo, this proves that being healthy has it's drawbacks. I go to the gym a couple of times and get sick. I should probably give up.
Whilst at home, Ged PM'ed my blog to catch up on what's what with the blogs. As usual, his email was short and to the point :-). He asked about what I was liking as regards submissions, so I sent over a few tracks. I started off with about 20 then whittled it down to 4. Which reminds me, I need to do an A&R list for this week.
As a result of my meeting I'm going to miss Leona's visit. She's coming to the building so we can celebrate her recent success in the charts. Hopefully I wont be struck by lightening for saying this, but I'm not the hugest X-Factor fan. However, I do think it's a really strong single and even with the huge amounts of plays I still like hearing it. Plus it's selling by the bucketload which shows we're giving the public what they want.
I just got a CD tower for my desk as the amount of wreckage around my desk is getting daft. The rack is for non-demos and stuff I just like hearing. Do you listen to much stuff at work? Wot you got? I'm curious as to what makes good work-listening, mine's as follows:
Laura Veirs (Year of Meteors), Pearl Jam (the new one?), The Police (New Best of), Ben Kweller (On My Way), Pitty Sing, Audioslave (1st album), Sonic Youth (Sonic Nurse), The Preytells (Could I Change Your Mind), Louis XIV (The Best Little Secrets Are Kept), White Stripes (Get Behind Me Satan), From Burbank to the Bay Area (comp), Supergrass (In it for the Money), Yeah Yeah Yeah's (Fever to Tell), David Bowie (Hunky Dory, my favourite album of all time), Doves (Some Cities), Engineers (Folly), David Bowie (Aladin Sane), Guns n' Roses (Appetite for Destruction), Portishead (Dummy), White Stripes (Elephant), The Coral (Roots and Echos), Kings of Leon (Sign of the Times), Queens of the Stone Age (Era Vulgaris), Interpol (Antics), The Prodigy (Music for the Jilted Generation), Anti-Flag (For Blood and Empire), Miles Davis (Kind of Blue), J.S. Bach (The Well Tempered Clavier 1 & 2), Jefferson Airplane (Surrealistic Pillow), The Raconteurs (Broken Boy Soldiers), Interpol (Turn on the Bright Lights), Doves (The Last Broadcast), Nuala (SHine), Nick Drake (Bryter Layter), Calvin Harris (I Created Disco), Patti Smith (Unbreakable), Backstreet Boys (Unbreakable).
So what get's you through the day? I'm curious?
Hope all's good with you.

The Matthew Bennett Band @ The Queen Charlotte in Norwich, 8pm
Lecorum are playing The Gallery in York. There seems to be a bit of heat around this band so check them out when you can.
The Bets are on Radio 1 tonight, well done them. If you like Beatles/Lennon influenced vocals and plenty of screaming and shouting, be sure to have a listen. :-) This track is well worth checking out.
Aurora are @ Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh, night starts at 7pm - Can't find their page. :-(
Tralier are at the Kasbah tonight from 8pm in Coventry.
